I've been trying to play with photos a bit more again and working on the Dodge/Burn tools a bit. I think they look better than what I started with a couple months ago, but obviously, I still need tons of work and practice to go.

Photo Playings

I've been playing a lot of WoW today, so this was a good change of pace, and I do enjoy spending a little time on playing with photos once in a while. :)

BBBC2010 topic 3: Thoughts on relationships in SL. With my past partners, I was content with the only SL thing. One partner had a busy life already, another partner didn't even want want to tell me any information about his RL self at all. But that was okay. SL was my paradise, and my escape from my real world. There was more to SL than talking about RL, right? I mean, you have wonderful sims to explore and talk about, so much shopping to do, and other avatars to talk about! I've heard of Second Life residents meeting each other and marrying before. Yes, I was slightly envious. But hey, good for them - that kind of happiness and fluffy stuff just doesn't happen to me, and I'm used to it. At least, thats what I thought at the time.

Relationships

Jeffry, when I met him in SL, I swore our relationship was going to be just the same. SL only, living across the United States without ever meeting, or even talking via phone. When he brought it up, I was a little scared to commit to a RL meeting, because I am really insecure about my RL self. But our meeting came, was wonderful, made me totally happy, and then it went. (Yes, I know I've blogged about it many, many times)

After the meeting, its been about 2 months now, and while we don't get in SL together much anymore, we still talk all the time via GTalk, Skype, phone and texting. We are more like a long distance RL couple, than a SL couple now. Occasionally, we will plan a movie night, where we'd go rent a movie in SL and cuddle while we watch it, which sometimes feels incredibly real. Its a strange feeling, seeing my avatar curled up to the avatar of my long distance fiance - I can imagine his touch, almost as if he's really with me. Weird, really. I thought I understood it before the meeting, but once we actually met, the feeling has been magnified. As if its not difficult enough to explain, imagine trying to explain it to someone who isn't into SL at all.

Sometimes, it feels like its made our relationship worse, because... when we cuddle in SL, I am reminded how much I miss him. Even with the imaginary feeling, it still doesn't fully replace the real thing. But at the same time, its made things better, because I know he is a real person (in a virtual world, its difficult to remember this sometimes), he's committed to me in both worlds, and SL has become a compliment to our relationship, and not what we are based on.

What was the topic again? Oh, right. Relationships. Well, that about sums every bit of my thoughts on SL/RL relationships, right?

Today's BBBC2010 topic was pretty simple. List 3 things that make SL positive for me. But still, for some reason, I had to think about it. I mean, my number one was a given. But the other 2? I was not sure. After thinking about it though, I came up with my three things.

good-things

1. Jeffry. Obviously. He's the one that's most positive in SL to me, and I always look forward to when we log in together, whether it be to watch a silly movie, or just curl up in bed and do some cuddling. Our daughter, Jasmine falls under number one as well. Both marrying Jeffry, and the birth of our baby girl were such positive experiences in my Second Life existence, I never even imagined I'd be doing either one. And never, ever, in either life, did I imagine I'd have met my SL husband in RL, AND become his real life fiancee.

2. My Blog. Without it, I don't know where I'd be. It has been my little log of adventures, and for a long time, it kept me moving in SL. I have no doubt that I would have left without my precious blog. In a time when I was feeling my lowest, I kept posting, looking forward to my next blog post, and it became something that made me happy. I remember way back when I first started it, I wanted to just log my SL explorations for future use, but then it became so much more to me. It's now a log of my adventures, heartbreak, and happiness. As silly as it is, I love sharing bits of my SL experiences with the blog (and/or blog readers), and its more of my diary now, as it's evolved and grown up with me through these 3 years.

3. My Home. My home is such a positive place for me, and it makes me happy in ways that I can't even explain. It's wonderful to come home to a place that I know I can be alone, to cuddle my husband in privacy, and sort inventory in peace. It's soothing to know that when I log back in the next day, I won't get bombarded with people asking me : "want sex? i have hotel" at an infohub when I have no home to log out at (and yes, I have been asked that, in the past). It's my little place of quiet, in a SL world that is so loud and unpredictable. Also, who doesn't love to come home to a place that is always tidy and filled with beautiful things? And, where in the world would I put a piano in my RL home? :)

Life is wonderful, sometimes it just takes a few minutes to sit back and realize what you have, and not what you want. This was a great topic to write about. :)

Alicia Chenaux is doing the Big Bad Blogger Challenge again this year, and you know I had to participate. I love the BBBC, so it should be fun to blog every day this week. I even decided I would blog every day for one week on my fashion-y blog too. Maybe I'll get to clear out some outfit photos I've been hoarding.

But anyway, I thought I would blog a little about the new skybox I put down a couple days ago. I was looking at houses to put down on land, but the one I wanted was way too expensive for me to buy. So, I started looking at skyboxes again.

skybox

I fell in love with this one. It has a bathroom and a separate room for baby Jasmine as well! Not very many prefabs come with an extra bedroom, I always find myself modding a second room onto houses for her (well, okay, The 2nd bedroom in this house is supposed to be an office, but a couple curtains, and its a bedroom). This is total perfection in a box. :D

And, I love having a husband who lets me change homes all the time with my prefab addiction. I try to keep it minimum for him, but whenever I ask him if I can change skyboxes, he says "I'll love whatever you put down, just make sure Jasmine has a room." :)

Yeah, I missed posting yesterday's BBBC post, but ah well. I've done pretty good so far. Today, I want to post about someone who has seemed to burrow himself my heart, whether I liked it or not.

He's silly, runs everyone and everything over while shopping, has no fashion sense, falls asleep on me, uses the dreaded chat speak (Yes, he spcks like dis 2 me), and is a total typo king. Totally the opposite type of guy I like. But, at the same time, he's someone I've grown to really care a lot about.

peanut-sai-02

Once I got to know this guy, I discovered he was adorable, kind, sweet, treats me extremely well, loves to cuddle for hours, allows me to bring out the hordes of lingerie I have, lives in a freaking mansion/palace (no joke) :O, wants to be blogged about, and is willing to put up with my horrible lack of sexytime skills.

So, this is my new boi, pnut. :D

OMG I almost missed day 3 of the BBBC. I'm going to be a rebel again and blog about something other than the topic :D So, I'll blog about - the finished ImpEle build! \o/

finished-store-03

Yes, yes. Its giant, and there is a whole wall of emptiness. But I'm hoping to fill it up soon :D

finished-store-02

Wheee! Flowers, flowers all over the place! Its summery, fresh looking, and totally fun :D

finished-store-01

My poses actually filled up almost a whole wall :O

Today's BBBC assignment is to describe what I think a perfect SL day is. SL is difficult to do this with, because we can control so many aspects of our environment. We are able to control the weather, mute people we know will put us down, and we always look perfect, even on the days we feel like crap.

sai-truth-hairs

So, what would Sai's perfect day be like? I've created a small list.
  1. No capped messages, and I recieve all my offline inventory offers succesfully.
  2. Cuddles and a conversation with someone special (who, at this time, does not exist in Sai's life).
  3. Time to check on chickens.
  4. Putting together a fabulous outfit.
  5. Somehow finding inspiration to make more poses for my store.
  6. Feeding off that inspiration to blog the outfit I wore that day on my fashion-y blog.
  7. Great conversations (most likely about buttsecks and tin foil hats) from my favorite girls in Ch'know.
  8. My perfect SL day would probably include no releases or sales from any of my favorite designers. Because a Sai who doesn't have to run out and spend all her monies is a very happy Sai. :D
All that combined would make the perfect day for my existence in SL. But, I'm still happy with my life in SL as it is. :D

Yay, the BBBC has started, and I'm totally excited! \o/ I've been somewhat slacking these past couple days, because I wanted to have something to blog about for this week. I'm getting caught up on a lot of things I listed, dropped my build, almost done making my new pose set, and now I have a little spare time to breathe, relax and blog.

Something I've been wanting to blog about for a while - my little Sion chickens. It seems everyone has them now, and after lots of "OMG, my chickens just had an egg!" and "OMG, my chicken died!" conversations in Ch'Know group chat, I finally broke down, built a chicken pen, and rezzed the couple eggs I had in my inventory.

So, a lot of people already blogged pictures of their chickens. To be slightly different, I decided to go take pictures of my chickens by using Boy Lane's Shadow Viewer \o/

chicken-pen-with-shadows

The chicken pen I made (if anyone wants a copy of it for their chickens - just poke at me in world). Turned out well, I like it, the chickens appear to like it too. They roam around, play with their little toy ball that Meara gave them, and cluck away.

chicken-with-shadows-04

I never thought that these little Sion chickens could be so amusing. It seems every day when I log in, I have to check how much food they have left, if they are at breeding age yet, and if they are both still contained in their pen.

chicken-with-shadows-03

I only have two right now, named Ueda and Hana. I didn't really want to name them after friends, because I'd feel really bad and guilty if somehow I killed one. xD They are only at 3% age, and I hear once they get to 4%, they begin to breed. So, hopefully soon, I'll have another chicken family member. :D

chicken-with-shadows-02

A closer view of one of my chickens. This one is my male, Ueda. I think the male chickens are ugliest, because they like, turn green and all different colors. But, he's still got his own charm that makes me luff the little guy. :D

chicken-without-shadows-01

Because the Shadow viewer pictures made them look really dark, I turned off shadows to get a better picture of just them. :D This was taken at the regions' normal night time, so they were both bundled together sleeping, which made for a better picture. ^^

BBBC day 4 is: Where do you go to shop when you just need some retail therapy? Do you suffer from buyers remorse later? What is the most expensive thing in your inventory?

I am terrible with shopping. I usually get in a foul mood and need to shop.... anywhere. I will go out to my favorite stores like, Armidi, Illusions, Baiastice, PixelDolls, ETD, or Truth and buy pretty much random things without thinking. On a normal day, I'll see something I like, and mull it around it my head, thinking: "Do I really need that? What would I wear it to? When would I ever wear it? What would I wear with it?" And ultimately, talk myself out of it.

However. When I go on my bad-mood shopping sprees, I'll just buy stuff I don't really want... just to buy it. And, as you can imagine, when I come to my shopping senses a few hours later.... I feel like total crap that I bought all this stuff that I will never wear. So, I either find myself boxing it up or deleting it while crying at my $L balance.

Lately my bad-mood sprees have been at furniture stores. I recently moved in SL (yet again! - look for a upcoming blog about it), and most of my furniture wouldn't fit in my new, smaller home. I've been buying furniture, only to find that I didn't like how it looked.... so I've had to keep buying and buying and buying to find a living room set that I liked. I still haven't found one. TT_TT It sucks, and I might even have to think about having a SL furniture yard sale for all these extra housewares I have now. -.-

Anyway. I've had quite a few expensive purchases, most probably no where near as pricey as what other people bought. The most expensive thing I have is definitely the Alienbear Miss SL Universe jewelry set, ringing in at $6000L. I have several limited edtition jewelry and gowns that cost at least $2000L or more... but that item is definitely the most expensive thing. I also have a few in-world sculptie makers that were around $3000L each, and a in-world pose maker that was $5000L. I also have two RaC skin sets that I purchased for $4000L each set (back when they forced you to buy a fatpack). I swear, if SL burps on one of those items.... I will be having a serious chat with the lindens.

BBBC for day 3 is: If there was one thing on the grid that you could snap your fingers and it would be gone forever, what would it be and why? It has to be something other than lag.

Traffic. I feel very strongly about this, and I think it might be the core of several problems. The main problem I think about is: Newbies come here, not knowing their butt from a hole in the ground, and when they see "ORGY ROOM!" in popular places - they think thats all SL has to offer. So, you get the pervy newbs going around asking every female avatar if they want to screw. Its extremely irritating, because I wish people would come to SL for more than a reason to have SL sex.

Another problem I see with traffic is the money camping. While I understand new people need money, and thats pretty much the only way for them to get it - I really hate going to a sim with quite a bit of traffic and seeing nothing but campers. I think for new players, there are alternate things to make them look good, like prize camping. I have no problems with prize camping or lucky chairs (hey, even I prize camp occasionally for some time to do some much-needed inventory cleaning) :D

Now, I know I might get asked: "Why do you hate money camping, but love prize camping?" Well, prize camping cuts down on the bots, and if you like the offered prize and want it enough to camp for it - then the traffic you add to the land is worth it. ^^ Also, prize camping will get newbies to look reasonably good on no budget at all. :D

However, as I was ranting about traffic somewhere else, the point came up to me about clubs. I've never really been into the club thing (and I am definitely -not- the party type), so I have no idea how they work. But apparently, clubs rely on traffic for patrons.... (is patrons even the correct term? O.o;;) So, maybe something more traffic-correct could take its place.

Ok, so I read that Alicia (one of the most adorable bloggers ever, who I stalk her blog several times a day XD ) is doing a Big Bad Blogger Challenge, where bad bloggers have to blog every day for one week. I am not sure I can do this, but darn it, I am going to try.

For today, she provided us bloggers with a question to answer:

Why did you decide to start blogging about your Second Life?

For me, I loved exploring SL, and I always had a difficult time finding interesting places to visit. So, I came to the conclusion that I would blog the places I've been, and have pictures of them - in case other people were looking for great places. I wanted my blog to be like, my travel guide of the best places to see in Second Life. That was the birth of Sai's Random Bloggage.

But then, my inventory started growing with clothes, and I became more fashion obsessed. I found many of my fashion posts finding it's way to my blog... which was changing it. And of course, was taking over. Thats when I decided to bring in a second blog, only for fashion. Which I called Fashion Labyrinth. So, now I have my personal thoughts, travels and creation stories here, and fashion on another.

But, as if two blogs isn't enough, I had decided to start yet another blog for Imperial Elegance, my little store. I didn't want to do my store releases on Fashion Labyrinth (that would almost be tacky), or make people sort through my personal ramblings for store news - so I thought a separate blog would be best for that. :D

So, I have 3 blogs, Sai's Random Bloggage, Fashion Labyrinth, and Imperial Elegance that I created to manage the madness in my Second Life. :D
