Halloween is quickly approaching us! Misty and I have been chugging away at a lot of the fun and scary events in SL lately! We did the Halloween Tour last week, watched the Nightmare before Christmas, and last night, we did the Trick or Treat Neighborhood! It's been fun!

I've also signed our house up to participate in the [free bird] Live Trick or Treating. I really enjoyed the House to House trick or treating last year, and I really hoped something similar would go on this year! This one seems more involved, as you have to be online and at your house when the trick or treaters come knocking. We're signed up for the 9-11 slot, so it should be awesome!

We dressed up as witches for this Halloween, and I think we look pretty adorable, if you ask me! (Well, Misty looks adorable, I look.... I dunno). So, here's our official Halloween photo!

[SRB] Halloween Dress Up

I did decide to start putting the poses I make for her and I on the marketplace, so if you're interested in purchasing this pose for you and your family, you can grab it here, for $10L. It even comes with mirrors!

Geez! Has it really been so long since my last blog post? Sometimes, I swear I forget I even have a blog! Anyway, a couple of months ago, I actually moved to a sim that I LOVE. It's a small, cozy, family sim that really just has one extended family living on it. I consider myself very, very lucky to have been chosen to live among them. Of course, as soon as I saw the opportunity to live there, I jumped on it. However, I never really posted about it, I'm not sure why. Even in my last blog post, where we are packing to go to Greece, I took the photo there. I didn't even mention it, oops!

While I have been living there, I haven't really put much effort into making it 'home' though. I had a house, furniture, and a little bit of landscaping, but eh. I was growing bored with the house, and decided to get a new one. Once I plopped the new house on the land, I really made an effort into making it feel like a place I will feel proud of. After all, I love living on this sim, I should show it!

I spent all weekend trying to figure out what I want to do with it, adding furniture, buying new furniture, landscaping it.... It's been rough! But, I finally got a result I am in love with!

[SRB] Coal Valley - 01

The front of the house. It's peaceful, happy, and looks like it belongs in a postcard, I think. LOL! I love the front of this house, cause of the front deck. I chose this house for fall, because of the decking. I LOVE to decorate for the seasons, and this will make a fantastic place for fall pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and all the adorable Halloween things! I'm so hoping that the House To House Trick or Treating happens again, I loved it so much last year!

[SRB] Coal Valley - 02

The back of the house! I have a little pond area, and off to the left side of the photo is a little cinema/movie area. I do need to find some outdoor seating for it that I like, so that's a work in progress right now. Also, the upstairs deck is a work in progress as well, as I need even more outdoor seating up there! (Why are they so difficult to find?)

But, all in all, not bad! I'm really proud of it!

Happy November! I hope everyone is having a great one so far! Last night, my family and I went trick or treating! We had a ton of fun looking at everyone's decorations, and grabbing the treats that everyone set out! At first I was kind of nervous about how I had decorated. This is our first year being part of the family community, I wasn't sure what kind of "treat" we were supposed to put out, I didn't know if we weren't decorated enough, or decorated too much. I had no idea what to expect!

However, it all turned out well, and when we went to the other houses, I felt our decorations were right on track. For us, who haven't been in SL for the past few years, had no mesh things, and our first year as a family - I think it looked like we've been doing it for years. I was worrying and stressing for weeks for nothing. LOL!

We went, and I was having so many issues last night. I was having issues with my Catwa head not blinking and animating properly, things were not rezzing for me, and I was lagging so bad! I've been having internet issues, which appears to be our router. So, until we can get a new one, I really tried to handle it like a trooper! I was also extremely tired, only getting about three hours of sleep the previous night. I was exhausted!

[SRB] H-to-H Trick or Treating - 01

We went as "Cops & Robber" type of theme. I was really struggling with finding a costume, because Halloween isn't one of my favorite holidays, so I didn't want to spend a fortune on something I was only going to wear for a couple hours. Also, I was having trouble finding a "themed" costume which was family appropriate. So... well, I tried.

[SRB] H-to-H Trick or Treating - 02

We even got to trick or treat at some of the family community sims. I really, really love the family communities! I tried to bring it up to Jeffry, seeing if maybe we can move to one or look into it, but he prefers our sim. He says the only way he'd move to a family community, is if he owned it. Hmmm, my wheels are turning!

[SRB] H-to-H Trick or Treating - 03

Our last house of the night - our home.We had SO much fun, and I'm already looking forward to Christmas! As our first year as a family, I can't wait to see what kind of family-things we can do this year! House to house looking at lights, maybe? One can hope, right?!

Last night, we took Yuna to the pumpkin patch and then we decorated our pumpkins! This was probably one of my first "real RP" experiences with our family, and we all had so much fun. When we were first adopting, one of our things was that we weren't really into RP that much. It still holds true today, we are not that big on mealtimes, tuck ins, but the RP that we do, it's so much fun, and we are always laughing like crazy! Our trip to the pumpkin patch was really our first attempt to plan an actual family event, and I was sure it was going to be a huge, epic fail somehow.

But it really wasn't! I planned this for many weeks, kept on the lookout for a fabulous pumpkin patch, made a holding pose, bought all the gacha pumpkin carving stuff we needed, and set it all out. I didn't know how the RP bits of it worked, and my wonderful friends on Plurk even really helped me better understand a lot of it!

In the end, for us and our family, it kind of came naturally! It was so much fun, and for a minimal-RP family like us, we really enjoyed it so much! The planning, the locations, the decorating, and the pumpkins, it really made for an awesome time.

[SRB] Pumpkin Carving - Pumpkin Patch

I had been looking for weeks for a pumpkin patch, and really enjoyed this one that I had found. It was pretty, had pumpkins that you could pick out, and even more. You can do much more than explore the pumpkin patch, but that's all we did there.

[SRB] Pumpkin Carving - Carving

Then we went home to carve and decorate our pumpkins. It was so worth all the anxiety I had to make it perfect! I think I made it more complicated than what it probably should have been, but I really didn't know what to expect, or anything. Next year, I'll definitely be more prepared, know what to expect, and know what will work for our family.

[SRB] Pumpkin Carving - Decorated Pumpkins

I saw Alicia's wonderful family on plurk actually "decorating" their pumpkin patch pumpkins. I loooooved that idea, it looked like so much fun. It also gave an actual purpose to the pumpkins we picked out! So, we copied them, and did the same! I think this really completed the event for us, and what really made it so it wasn't SO much RP. This made it perfect. It became more of a "OMG I need to add hair and shoes!" and "What is happening to daddy's eyes?!" thing. We were laughing so much last night, it was great. It probably would have been a very stiff, I-don't-know-how-to-RP thing without the silliness.

At the start of the Halloween season, people on plurk were starting to wonder if this place called Havenhollow was going to happen again this year. Me, being away from SL for so long, had not heard of this place before! When it was explained to me, it sounded like SO much fun, and I was excited to check it out!

So, we took the family exploring there! Yuna had already been to Havenhollow last year, so she was like our guide for the whole thing. We had a lot of fun! Jeffry tried to look like the Phantom of the Opera, Yuna went as Link from the Legend of Zelda, and I went as... well, I'm not really sure. SL's female costumes are so unoriginal when it comes to being family-friendly. Everything is either sexy nurse, sexy maid, or something bloody. I was not interested in any of that. So, I put on a Halloween skin applier. I don't know what I was, but I tried.

[SRB] Havenhollow

Havenhollow was fun! We had a blast roaming around, and it was actually quite creepy! I know in previous years, I've really tried to visit all the haunted places I can go. But, with Yuna as a part of our family, I feel so excited for all the RP aspects of the holidays! I know I've said it before, but well, it's fun to share the SL holidays with other people you care about. For the longest time, it's just been Jeffry and I.

Speaking of Jeffry, we went gachaing the other day. We went a little crazy! I got quite a bit of the stuff I wanted, but there was some things that he wouldn't give up on. I logged on to this.

[SRB] Gacha Gifts

Sculpted gift boxes in the shape of a heart. 12 prims each, no baked maps. LOL! He tried, right? Filled with all the gacha items that I gave up on! Even through the ugliness, I was excited! Yuna got gifts too, set out in her bedroom, from a couple of machines that we thought she'd like! However, she didn't want to take them from us! I was threatening to ground her and drop them on her instead when she finally accepted them!

It's getting closer and closer to Halloween! I've been working quite a bit on my store things, as I have a couple of events to participate in. A hunt, and I'm donating a prize to the Carver's End thing! So, I've been really working on those, and a release as well. I've been working on a couple of other things, as well!

I entered our home into the House to House Trick or Treating, and we've been decorating like crazy! It's a constant work in progress, as more and more things come out the closer we get to Halloween. I keep adding stuff! I'm wondering what is too much and where the line is between awesome and tacky. Haha!

[SRB] House to House Trick or Treating

This is about where our trick or treater families will land! I love it, it's so adorable! Gives a good view of the house, I think! And it reminds me just how much I love having a driveway! I am not a fan of Halloween, really, so I never really bought anything for decorating before. I tend to buy pumpkins that are uncarved, or hay bales, things that can also be used for Thanksgiving decor as well. I'm much more into Thanksgiving than I am into Halloween! But anyway, I hope I'm doing this holiday right!

[SRB] House to House Trick or Treating

And the entrance, all fancy decorated! I've been way from SL for a long time, mesh was really just beginning to come out when I left. So, coming back, I had *nothing* mesh to decorate with! I had to buy everything new to decorate this year with, and quite frankly, I have so many decorations now that I know what to do with! I'd be happy if I never see another pumpkin again at this point. LOL!

Its been a while, and yes, I still live! I've been getting a few curious IM's, notecards and such, with people asking if I am ok. Yes, I am. I've been dealing with RL, an Aion addiction, and a sudden illness that came over a close family member.

But, I've been moving into a new apartment, and settling into life there - which has been a bit of a challenge. I've pretty much gotten everything unpacked, and finally put my shelves and curtains up over the weekend. All I have left is to unload my books onto my shelves. :D I contemplated blogging about the new apartment for a while, even had a whole post written, but then deleted it. I decided that I don't want force my RL onto people. Instead, if people have interest, they can check out the Apartment flickr set I've created. :D

I've been slowly getting back the swing of SL. Jeffry and I gave up our sim, found new land, with the worst neighbors ever. But, its home, and affordable for the amount of time we are in SL lately. I did a new release for [ImpEle], the first one in about 2 months. I've been spending more time in SL, I actually went shopping this morning, and Jeffry bought a new bedroom set for us on Friday, and we watched a silly movie together on our beautiful new Loft bed.

As I said above, Jeffry and I got new land, and I plopped my old Pixel Mode house down. It fits the land really well, with some modding. The rooms are perfect for what we need - Jasmine's room, living room, foyer, kitchen, dining room and bedroom. The house isn't entirely done yet, so I'll hold off on posting pictures of the whole house. The husband doesn't really like to change houses often, so there's really no hurry to finish it.

halloweeeeeeeen

But, I did decorate it for Halloween. I'm not fond of Halloween at all, in fact ... I believe its one of the worst holiday's ever, but I do like to decorate for the seasons, and I love these pumpkins too much to not use. And, they work well for Thanksgiving too. :D

pixel-mode-retextured

The one thing I've always hated about this Pixel Mode house - is the textures. Or, lack of. The walls are flat, blinding white. So, I took some time to retexture every room... and am very happy with the result. I looooove aligning textures, and doing this house was so fun. Add in some m.fox accents, and some furniture picked up at the fri.day sale - you've got a win room. xD

OMG Exile Hair :O

And, I need to say something about this hair. I LOVE IT. Seriously. It's the Southern Belle from Exile, and I don't think I'm ever going to take it off. Ever. It's the first thing that I've actually left the house in search of in several weeks. I haven't really wanted anything lately, but when I seen this hair... I NEEDED.

After I grabbed this hair, I actually spent some time doing the Pieces of You hunt to grab that beautiful Evie's Closet gown... So, I'm returning little by little. ^^

I explored October Country last night. Last time I visited, was last year, with my partner at the time... Bats. This year, I explored alone. If there was one thing I've realized in this time of Halloween sim exploring - visting sims alone really sucks. I like being able to point out things to other people, comment on things to someone... with just little me - I find it kinda boring, really.

october-county-10

But anyway, October Country! I hear this sim is a mix between residential, roleplaying, and a sim to explore. What's cool though - is that it's open all year long.

october-county-05

There definitely wasn't any really "scary" things here, but they play little ghost story dramas on their radio stream, so be sure to listen as you explore. I rarely have music going, but I am glad I got to listen to this stream ^^

october-county-07

There is even a fire where you can sit and listen to the creepy ghost stories. When I came last year, there was several people sitting around this fire, chatting away. I'm not really sure what happened though, because there was no one around the entire time I visited. Perhaps I scared them all away? :O

october-county-06

I think these crypt things were the best part of the sim. I think they are really well done, and extremely cute :D

october-county-04

This walkway was a cute touch too. I like the lights, bridge, and the trees in the background. It definitely set the October mood for me. :D

october-county-09

There are also interesting builds here too. Like this building with all kinds of moving gears, for example.

october-county-08

And this old windmill thingie. It looked kinda spooky, yet interesting.

october-county-02

It even has a little town! Though, this appears to be the main hub of the roleplaying. Luckily, I didn't encounter any role players. :D

october-county-01

Really, this place hasn't changed at all since I seen it last. It's just as I remembered, which could be both good and bad.

I visited the Cutting Class haunted house last night! It is apparently inspired by games like Silent Hill and such, and it shows. I've played a few of those horror/survival games before, and they always scared the CRAP out of me. (I am currently trying to play Fatal Frame 2, but after about 5 minutes of gameplay, I have to turn it off XD). I played a Silent Hill on the original Playstation, and it was okay until it got dark... then I freaked, turned it off, and never played it again. :O

cutting-class-08

But anyway, back to Cutting Class. I can't really say that this was "scary", but it was interesting. I liked exploring around, looking at the old school building. I do like just exploring old buildings that are in various stages of disarray. I am just weird like that. ^^

cutting-class-05

Surprisingly, this school build looked like a high school. I mean, it had science rooms, a library, stage, classrooms, and even bathrooms. Perhaps I should have put on a school uniform to explore this? O.O

cutting-class-07

I was slightly frustrated, because throughout the school, you had to hunt down pieces to get some kind of code. Once you get the code, you can use it to open the elevator, which will take you to the bowels of the school. :O

cutting-class-06

I think the creepiest part was actually the bathroom. It was all grungy, old, and decaying, I half expected something to come out of the mirror, or hiding behind the bathroom stalls.

cutting-class-09

I did expect more of this though. Creepy hanging things. It wasn't as gory as I thought it would be, but, still interesting ^^

cutting-class-04

Luckily, I got to follow some really smart people down the elevator. If it wasn't for them figuring the clues out, I would have never got down to the basement.... and, it was gross! Like, the stomach of a creature or something :O

cutting-class-03

Heh. Bloody walls? I wonder what happened down here. O.O

cutting-class-02

This was probably the most gross thing I seen through this school. It looked like some kind of fleshy deformed monster. Perhaps it was once a student? :O :O *runs away*

cutting-class-11

However, once you get to the last stretch of it, you get prizes for finishing! \o/ I liked the concept of this haunted house: an abandoned school, a little gore, weirdness, prizes, and a interactive system. It didn't make me scared iRL, but it was still good to explore. :D

SLURL: Cutting Class Haunted House, Pulse (81, 224, 42)

*Scratches head* I wonder what other Halloween haunted sims are out there? O.O

Avatar

So, on the suggestion of Aisuru, I toured Trepid Station today! I actually attempted it last night before I went to bed, but got totally freaked out, and decided to try later. XD The scary thing about this place was the creepy, random noises.

trepid-station-06

I usually do okay with gore movies such as Saw, but, with jumpy movies like The Grudge, The Ring, and Shutter - I freak out. I hate those movies and have nightmares for months. But anyway - this haunted train station was a bit like that.

trepid-station-13

I apologize - some of these pictures are going to be really dark, and there are quite a few of them. I tried to experience the station the way it was meant to be - by region default lighting, but, of course - its not the best for picture taking.

trepid-station-05

There was several places that I actually thought was really pretty. I think this station has a very "abandoned" feel to it, which I really like. There is a certain beauty in abandoned buildings. The lobby was really pretty in this way. :D

trepid-station-03

Of course - it had the stereotypical "horror" factors, like the creepy kitchen. I half expected some skeletons to pop out of the oven or refrigerator at me xD

trepid-station-02

I liked the Diner thing. It's probably good to point out - if you want to get the full experience, you should scout out the newspapers every chance you can find and check out the headlines - it tells a little bit of the story behind the train station tragedy. ^^

trepid-station-08

The textures used in this build were pretty good too. :D I like these bookshelf things. XD

trepid-station-07

But, this build still has those jumpy, damn scary moments. You really don't know WHAT will pop at you next. It could be creepy ghosts, silhouettes, scary voices, or eerie creaking doors.

trepid-station-01

I took this picture, and I actually really liked it for some reason. I think the only thing that would have been better here is some kind of working ghost train. :D

trepid-station-12

I have no idea what the heck happened, but the next thing I knew, I fell out a window, and seen my face on a newspaper! Nuuuuu! I am still alive, I swear!

trepid-station-14

I visited a few Halloween sims with Bats, my first partner, last year - but, I don't think any of them can compare to this one. This was extraordinarily cool, and one of the few I'd suggest checking out ^^

Rave Nation's Haunted House

Yay~ a haunted house for Halloween! I visited the Rave Nation Haunted House... it was definitely creepy. Several times, I found myself making a face like this: >.<

Creepy!

I am a major fan of horror movies - I love them to pieces. So, I immediately caught some of the movie references that was in this house. Pieces from Saw, The Shining, and more were used in this house. Creepy. As if watching horror movies all night tonight isn't going to be enough for me tonight...

Yay~ Gifts!

If you make it to the attic, you even get a prize for braving the scary house! That is ... if you want to fight the giant spider for it. O_o

Kyaaa~

And yeah - I had to.

If you are into Halloween things, there are a few places you can visit to get into the Halloween spirit. Two of the most popular places are Octoberville and October Country. Because Bats loves Halloween, I decided to take him to these two sims. So, we both dressed up - him as Jack Skellington, and me in a Last Call costume called "Enchantress".

Octoberville

Octoberville is only seasonal, so you should visit now, before it turns normal again. They have some weird hunt going on in this sim, and you have to find tons of items through the island. You do get a HUD to keep track of the items you have found, and it lets you know how many you have left. Lots of weird things are hidden in this sim. SLURL: Octoberville, PixelTrix (159, 105, 22)

October Country

Another popular one is October Country. Here, they have ghost stories being played for a good portion of the day, and many places to explore. This place made my computer spaz with all the particles and stuff, but it was an interesting place. I am told that this sim stays open all year round, so that is good for those of you who can't make it here by Halloween. SLURL: October Country, October Country (81, 184, 65)

And, here we are in our Halloween gear. We were trying to be as silly as we could be in this picture - because we just looked so goofy. O.o
